Sunny, warmer weekend follows Friday storm chances in Kiowa County
Kiowa County can expect a mix of clouds and isolated storms Friday before high pressure builds in for a sunny, warmer weekend, according to the National Weather Service forecast office in Pueblo. Skies clear out Saturday and Sunday with highs climbing into the low-to-mid 80s before another round of showers moves in early next week.
Friday brings patchy morning fog and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m., with a high near 73 degrees around Eads. Winds stay light and variable, becoming south at 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Any storms that develop should bring less than a tenth of an inch of rain, though locally higher amounts are possible. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms continues Friday night, with a low around 53.
"Another wet and seasonably cool day today… showers and thunderstorms will be possible through most of the day and into this evening," a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pueblo wrote in Friday’s Area Forecast Discussion. The office said drier, warmer conditions return this weekend before an unsettled pattern brings widespread precipitation and cooler temperatures back to the region next week.
No fire weather warnings in effect
No Red Flag Warnings or other fire weather advisories were in effect for western Kiowa County as of Friday morning, according to both the local point forecast and the Pueblo forecast office’s latest Area Forecast Discussion, which listed no active watches, warnings or advisories for the area.

Sunny skies for Saturday and Sunday
High pressure takes over the region Saturday, bringing sunny skies and a high near 83 to Eads, with west-northwest wind becoming north in the afternoon. Saturday night stays mostly clear with a low around 52. Sunday repeats the pattern with mostly sunny skies and another high near 83, though wind picks up out of the south-southeast at 10 to 15 mph by morning. Sunday night turns mostly cloudy with a low around 57 as the next system approaches.
Extended outlook: showers return Monday and Tuesday
An unsettled pattern moves back into southeast Colorado early next week. Monday is partly sunny with a high near 81, but a chance of showers and thunderstorms develops Monday night, with a low around 55 and a 40 percent chance of precipitation. Tuesday turns breezy and cooler, with a high near 70, a 50 percent chance of showers and possible thunderstorms after noon, and north wind around 20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph.
